Moving

We spent the afternoon yesterday with a handyman working on the house while Terry and I wrapped up most of the contents of our kitchen cabinets.  We plan to put our house on the market as soon as the renovations are complete, which shouldn't take more than a few weeks according to logic.  Putting that number into the rough equation I've developed for determining real-time ETA's for projects that involve drills, hammers, or anything construction-based we should be ready to show the house sometime next year.  Since I don't like painting, I've busied myself buying plastic storage tubs and organizational systems to "show off" the kitchen and attract buyers.

I've read a bunch of stuff about staging houses and this house really will need some help to sell it quickly.  We also plan to live in it part time while it's on the market.  That's why I'm packing up most of our junk.  We're stripping down our pots and pans to bare essentials to make it easier to keep the kitchen clean, as well as make the space that is available in our 100 square foot kitchen seem like plenty of space.

In the next few weeks my husband will hopefully be heading out of state to continue working as a sub-contractor spray-foam roofer and I want to get the house on the market and join him as soon as possible.  Long term, we want to sell our house, and buy some land outside of a city so we can build a great non-traditional house and live happily ever after with long winters skiing in Colorado and working like lunatics all summer.

There are a few details missing so far, like getting out of debt first, but I'm sure we can work them out as money (work) comes available.  Anyone looking to insulate their in-construction new house or re-roof their flat roof?
