“You do know it was our anniversary
today right?” I pose this question to my husband as I get ready for bed, surprised that he hasn't even so much as given me a "happy anniversary" at some point today. To be accurate the whole last week was has been our
anniversary, as we got married twice: one week apart from one
another. Thursday, July 31, 2008 then again Friday, August 8, 2008.
Since 8-8-08 was the day we wanted to get married we usually just
tell people that's our anniversary. However, since I've become more
needy, or decided to start acting out more on my suppressed woman-ly
feelings I celebrate the whole week as our nuptial anniversary. I
cooked him dinner. The fact that I do this most nights all year
around, should not take away from the splendor of my cooking dinner.
I also got him some things for his new foam truck. Does a work gift
count as an anniversary gift? I'll go with yes, for him and no, for
me.
“I know.” He says. Silence as I
stare at him. “What? Was I supposed to get you something or do
something?”
“Uh, yeah, something.” I say. So
I post this exchange on Facebook thinking someone would school him on
proper etiquette for celebrating and cherishing his wife on the fifth
anniversary of their vows. Crickets. Not a single response from
anyone. Seriously? No comment from the pack of facebook fanatics we
are friends with with? From the same people who share every idiotic
“Share if you think your kids are cute” or, “Like if you want
God to give you a miracle” post? *Sigh* I guess I'm on my own with this one.
Still, I'm surprised. The comment, “Change the
quarterback Bo Pelini PLEASE!” about a college football game will
draw more than 30 comments. It's a bunch of minors running around
with a ball instead of setting a good example and studying. Who
cares? Apparently, the entire state. But I'll save my feeling about sports for another day.
